Today is a pretty special day. Not only is it Canada day, but one year ago today, Exiled was published.
Unleashed into the wild, in hopes of rocking imaginations world wide, Exiled has had an incredible year. Great reviews, some of which brought me to tears, are just one of things I got to experience from readers. One that particularly stands out is from a young boy named Patrick, who is the student of book blogger/teacher Val @ Stuck in Books. He was the first actual young adult to read and review my books, and that was something beyond words, for me. All of the reviews, all of the comments and messages I’ve received from happy readers…it just blows me away every time someone tells me they enjoyed what I’ve created.
This journey started a few years ago with no intention to publish. I started writing one day, having never written a book before, nor had I ever dreamed of it. It was just a burst of inspiration that hit, and I haven’t stopped since. More ideas, more stories, and more adventures are ahead for both me, the characters you know, and some you haven’t had the pleasure to meet yet, and it’s all because of you.
This journey was made possible by a lot of people. So many of you have contributed to Exiled’s success, that I couldn’t possibly list them all in a blog post. From amazing book bloggers, to incredible friends, and most importantly, my family.
My wife has stood beside me through this entire journey. She was my sound board and without her, Exiled wouldn’t exist like it does today. To be honest, if it wasn’t for her, I don’t think Exiled would’ve ever been started. It certainly would never have been finished. She supported me before anyone knew who I was. She helped create this story and build these characters with me. I wrote the words, but she gave me the magic that created this world and these characters. She believed in me when I wasn’t sure I believed in myself. This story doesn’t exist without her love, passion, and support. So to her, I want to say thank you. Thank you for joining me on this journey. Thank you for being such a huge part of it, and for being the contributing factor that pushed me to see my dream come true. I love you, and without you, none of this would exist for me.
To all the bloggers and readers that have read my books, reviewed them, purchased them, told a friend about them, all of you, Exiled is only a success because of you. Without you, it’s just another dusty story waiting to be read. Exiled has found readers now and because of you, it continues to find more. Your support not only makes all the work of writing and publishing a novel worth while, it also pushes me to write more and better stories. Because of you, I want to deliver what I hope is a world you can disappear into. One that sweeps you off your feet, pulls your emotions in every direction, and makes your heart race for the next page. I want to make characters you love, characters you love to hate, and characters that make you feel special.
You’ve all made my dreams come true by taking a chance on an unknown writer, and allowing my imagination to transport you to my world. You experienced my story with characters you’d never met, and some of you now feel like they’re a part of you. That’s an honor I can’t put into words. You started this journey with Chase and Rayna, and you’re anxious for more. That’s the power of a story. That’s magic. Together, you and I create that magic, and I can’t wait to show you what’s in store for Chase, Rayna, and the gang, next. This journey has been amazing, but it’s only the beginning.
So to everyone, I want to say Thank You. You’ve made this a day I will never, ever, forget. And to show my thanks, I’ve got prizes up for grabs. From today until July 8th, you can enter to win my books.
3 signed copies of Exiled are up for grabs! Now this paperback giveaway is North American only, but I have a second set of prizes, for international residents too. There are also 3 Kindle copies up for grabs of your choice of Exiled or Shift!
Good luck to each of you, and thank you, so much, for making this day incredible.
