So if you haven’t noticed, I don’t post regularly here. I know that goes against all the brand developing, marketing schwagga (that’s my new word by the way), and audience building advice we all learn, but I’m okay with that, I have reasons for this.
In my opinion (for what it’s worth) I believe we should do this to connect with potential readers, and other writers. I’m new at this, so I’m definitely not here to give advice, but I’m more than willing to share my experiences so that others can learn from my mistakes. I’m really just here to let you know what’s going on with my writing, my books, and occasionally, some rant on how I think they should still put toys in cereal boxes. On that note, by the way, why have so many cereal brands gotten rid of the characters I loved so much growing up? Sugar Crisp, Shreddies, I’m looking at you guys on this one!
Anyways, I’m getting off topic. I DO actually have a little bit of news about my upcoming book Exiled.
I finished formatting it last week and over the weekend I played with Mobi Creator to get my kindle version up and running. When I formatted the MS I took the Smashwords Style Guide and followed it 100%, as I was advised by Everett Powers, and it worked perfectly. Surprisingly, I only needed to make a few slight modifications to it for this same formatting to work for Kindle.
Before I actually put it up for sale I have a few things I have to do. First, I’m waiting on the back jacket copy that’s being written by a friend of mine, and although I don’t need this to publish, I’d like to have the same synopsis, of sorts, on all the versions.
Second, I need to send a formatted copy of the file to my editor. She wants to take one final look over the book once it’s converted, to make sure we haven’t missed anything.
As soon as I’ve finished those two items, I’m ready to go. I’m hoping to have it uploaded by third or fourth week of June. This is perfect. My goal was to be published late June/early July, so we’re right on track. The process has gone surprisingly smooth, and I’m wavering back and forth between insanely excited, and viciously nervous.
So there you have it. Exiled really is coming, and soon at that! I’ll keep you posted on release date details and if your not excited yet, get excited….and go!
